Breathwork Journeys

Breathwork journeys are deep somatic experiences that, through conscious connected breathing and guidance, help you come out of your head and move into your body, accessing the body’s wisdom for expanding awareness, emotional detoxing, increasing energy, improving self-confidence, reducing stress and anxiety, reduction of PTSD and feelings of trauma, relieving depression and negative thought patterns and opening the door to potential deep transformation.

You can choose between two types of Breathwork Journeys: a deeply calming and relaxing experience (available to all) or a more activating and transformational one with the below contraindications:

Pregnancy, detached retina, glaucoma, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease including angina, previous heart attack or stroke, diagnosis of aneurysm in the brain or abdomen, uncontrolled thyroid conditions, diabetes or recent surgery (3 months prior).

9D Transformational Breathwork

9D Breathwork is a specialized form of Transformational Breathwork that takes the experience to a whole new level.

It incorporates multi-dimensional soundscapes and hypnosis techniques, creating an immersive journey that transcends the usual boundaries of breathwork. This unique blend allows for a deeper exploration into the subconscious mind, facilitating profound emotional and psychological shifts. The "9D" signifies the nine dimensions of experience it aims to engage, from the physical to the emotional and even the spiritual.

It's not just about breathing; it's about creating a holistic experience that addresses multiple facets of human existence.

At Quinta Marugo, we will teach you the art of mindfulness and compassion through active contemporary meditation.

Mindfulness meditation develops your capacity to live in the present, with full awareness, acceptance and non-judgment. One of the key pillars we teach is awareness of your emotional landscape, thoughts, and bodily sensations allowing you to respond consciously as opposed to reacting with an auto-pilot reflex.

Compassion is the capacity of feeling for others and self with courage and the intention of creating well being.
Like mindfulness, it is a practice that, when practiced regularly, can deeply transform your life by increasing happiness, improving well being, reducing stress and suffering, quietening the inner critic to access your innermost resources, and increasing social connectedness.

Hatha Yoga

A great way to connect with your body, mind and spirit in a gentle, yet empowering way. Students are guided through a series of postures, breathing, and stillness, in an intentional, curious, and embodied way.

Classes end with a short guided meditation/relaxation.

You will leave the class feeling more vibrant, restored, rested and at peace.All levels are welcome. Gentle adjustments are offered throughout the class if desired.

QiGong practice

Qigong is an ancient and well researched practice that helps unblock stuck or stagnant energy that creates ailments at the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level.

This is achieved through movements, breathing and intention setting. The sequences we will teach you can be easily worked into your daily routines for your overall wellbeing.

Horse assisted coaching

Horses have an uncanny ability to act as mirrors, reflecting back our emotional and physical states, and creating a safe space for self-reflection and self-discovery. This unique experience allows you to develop a deep level of self-awareness, which is critical to effective leadership and a life well lived.

This coaching can be either individual or with a group. And 1/2 day or full day.

Surroundings

Quinta Marugo is nested in the heartland of the Alentejo region of central Portugal.

Serpa (10 kms) – A picturesque and undiscovered historical town in Baixo Alentejo, known for its architectural and cultural heritage.

Mertola (48 km) – Located on a cliff above the Guadiana River, Mertola is a peaceful riverside walled village. It was once one of the most important river ports in the Mediterranean and is often referred to as ‘the museum village’, due to its rich history.

Pulo de Lobo waterfall (Wolf Leap)  (5 km) - Situated along one of the most dramatic stretches of the Guadiana river. According to legend, only a brave man or a wild animal when chased could leap over this gorge.

Minas São Domingo  (30 km) - Take a plunge at the Praia da Albufeira da Tapada Grande (lake beach), an idyllic spot to enjoy the interior of Alentejo and spectacular sunsets over the water.

Guadiana National Park – Quinta Marugo is situated within the Guadiana National Park, 700 m2 of natural beauty.

Wine country – Pias (15 kms) is famous for its red and white wines, whilst Cuba and Vidigueira (one hour away) are known for the millenary wine-making technique developed by the Romans called Talha wine.

Off road trails – 20 kms of dirt roads just outside the property offer scenic trails through gorges and diverse landscapes that are perfect for running, hiking and mountain biking.

Wildlife – Depending on the season, and with a little bit of luck, you can encounter deer, wild boar, the Iberian lynx, partridges, ducks, otters, herons (including black herons), small harmless snakes, turtles and frogs.

Beaches – We are situated two hours from some of the most beautiful Algarve beaches in Portugal and the Costa de la Luz in Spain.
