Serpa (10 kms) – A picturesque and undiscovered historical town in Baixo Alentejo, known for its architectural and cultural heritage.
Mertola (48 km) – Located on a cliff above the Guadiana River, Mertola is a peaceful riverside walled village. It was once one of the most important river ports in the Mediterranean and is often referred to as ‘the museum village’, due to its rich history.
Pulo de Lobo waterfall (Wolf Leap) (5 km) - Situated along one of the most dramatic stretches of the Guadiana river. According to legend, only a brave man or a wild animal when chased could leap over this gorge.
Minas São Domingo (30 km) - Take a plunge at the Praia da Albufeira da Tapada Grande (lake beach), an idyllic spot to enjoy the interior of Alentejo and spectacular sunsets over the water.
Guadiana National Park – Quinta Marugo is situated within the Guadiana National Park, 700 m2 of natural beauty.
Wine country – Pias (15 kms) is famous for its red and white wines, whilst Cuba and Vidigueira (one hour away) are known for the millenary wine-making technique developed by the Romans called Talha wine.

Off road trails – 20 kms of dirt roads just outside the property offer scenic trails through gorges and diverse landscapes that are perfect for running, hiking and mountain biking.
Wildlife – Depending on the season, and with a little bit of luck, you can encounter deer, wild boar, the Iberian lynx, partridges, ducks, otters, herons (including black herons), small harmless snakes, turtles and frogs.
Beaches – We are situated two hours from some of the most beautiful Algarve beaches in Portugal and the Costa de la Luz in Spain.
